Board Books

1. I see by Helen Oxenbury Candlewick Press, Boston, MA 1985
ISBN: 1-56402-549-7

This book is great for parents to read them to their children whom are just beginning to speak. Every page in I see is just a word with a corresponding picture showing the word. I think it's a nice book to read to children because it shows a small toddler in their illustrations showing exactly what this child in the book is seeing. It can also help the child learn to say their words correctly.
I would give this book 5 stars out of 5 because of the target age group.

2. My World by Margaret Wise Brown Pictures by Clement Hurd, Harper Collins, 1949
ISBN:0-694-00862-1
This a companion book to Goodnight Moon. The same bunnies are used as characters in the book and the small bunny is comparing himself to both his mother and father. They all have things that are each their own. I like how the author rhymes and repeats the things that they are sharing with the parents.
This book gets a 5 out of 5 becuase it was very nicely done.

3. Little you by Richard Van Camp, Orca Book Publishers, Canada 2013
ISBN: 978-1-4598-0248-3
Little You was a very adorable board book. In the story new parents are telling their child how special she is and how much they adore her. Every last word ends with the next pages last word, which made me really enjoy the rhythm. It's definitely a sweet book for parents to read to their children before bed.
5 out of 5

  1. Sounds like you found three very good books! I'll have to check out the companion book to Goodnight Moon. I have not seen that one before. From your description it sounds like "I See" might be a good example of a concept book, teaching the child vocabulary for the things around him or her in the environment. Try to see if you can add illustrations or clipart of the book covers to your blog to add to the visual experience of the reader.
